1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:
1:2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love
1:5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will–
1:6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
1:8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
1:9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,
1:10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment–to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.
1:11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,
1:12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.
1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
1:14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession–to the praise of his glory.
1:15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
1:16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
1:17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
1:18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
1:19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength,
1:20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
1:21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
1:22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,
1:23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus and are faithful in Christ Jesus:
1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ,
1:4 Even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blemish before Him in love,
1:5 Predestinating us unto sonship through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
1:6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, with which He graced us in the Beloved;
1:7 In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of offenses, according to the riches of His grace,
1:8 Which He caused to abound to us in all wisdom and prudence,
1:9 Making known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Himself,
1:10 Unto the economy of the fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in Him;
1:11 In whom also we were designated as an inheritance, having been predestinated according to the purpose of the One who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
1:12 That we would be to the praise of His glory who have first hoped in Christ,
1:13 In whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation, in Him also believing, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of the promise,
1:14 Who is the pledge of our inheritance unto the redemption of the acquired possession, to the praise of His glory.
1:15 Therefore I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you and your love to all the saints,
1:16 Do not cease giving thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,
1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the full knowledge of Him,
1:18 The eyes of your heart having been enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling,
1:19 And what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the operation of the might of His strength,
1:20 Which He caused to operate in Christ in raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavenlies,
1:21 Far above all rule and authority and power and lordship and every name that is named not only in this age but also in that which is to come;
1:22 And He subjected all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church,
1:23 Which is His Body, the fullness of the One who fills all in all.
